NEW DELHI: A senior leader from the Opposition side had personally met the complainant in CPM Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son Binoy case and discussed it in detail, before it was leaked to the media, sources said.
The complainant gave a copy of his complaint to the correspondent of Malayala Manorama on the instructions of this leader, sources added.
He wanted to put the CPM and state party secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on the defensive before the start of CPM state meeting.
Moreover, the leader also wanted to trap the government on the issue as the Assembly session has already started.
The sources added that it went as per the script and later, took over by the Opposition.
The Opposition is not raking up the issue of financial wrong-doing by Binoy, but it wants Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to quit the CPM state secretary’s post. This makes things very clear, the sources said.
At the same time, the reports of a travel ban on Binoy to the UAE has proved to be wrong. According to emigration papers, he had visited the country very recently.
Moreover, Binoy has made it clear that there is no case against him in the UAE. To make his stand clear, he has released a copy of the Dubai police clearance certificate.
The Dubai police have given a sworn affidavit stating that there is no case against Binoy Kodiyeri in the country till today.
According to the sources, Binoy personally applied for the certificate after allegations were raised against him.
The CPM has made its stand clear that if there is a case against Binoy he will personally clear the same and the party has no role in it. And the Opposition attack on the CPM is politically motivated.
The copy of the complaint was given to the media by the complainant itself and vested interests are planting stories that it was leaked from the CPM central leadership. This makes clear that the ‘interests’ of these people, the CPM leaders said.
Meanwhile, it became clear that the UAE citizen who came to Pathanamthitta was the sponsor of Rahul Krishna. Rahul invited the sponsor to Kerala since he could not go to UAE due to a travel ban on him in the country.
Rahul Krishna took a loan in the name of his close relative Sreesh in Sharjah after giving him a job there. But he did not repay the loan, and Sreesh was detained at Dubai airport for this.
Later, he took Rs 17 lakh from Sreesh’s father and signed stamp papers from him to secure the release of Sreesh. Later, Rahul tried to grab the land of Sreesh’s family by using the signed blank stamp papers.
Later, Pathanamthitta police filed a case against Rahul on the basis of a complaint made by Sreesh’s father.
