Phone sleaze talk case: Pradeep moves High Court seeking CBI investigation

KOCHI: Mangalam News Channel’s news editor Pradeep has moved the Kerala High Court seeking an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the phone sleaze talk case against Transport Minister AK Saseendran.

The truth won’t come out if any other agency investigates the case as Saseendran has been reinstated as the minister in the state cabinet, Pradeep said in his petition filed through advocate Siyad.

Earlier, Pradeep was remanded to custody in the case. Another employee of Mangalam News channel withdrew her complaint to facilitate Saseendran’s return to the state Cabinet.

The news editor’s petition also points out that there are a widespread protest and resentment against Mangalam News channel’s ‘compromise’ with the government in the case.

Pradeep has already got a legal advice that the court will order a central investigation into the case in the present situation. That is why he moved the high court.

Our sister concern Expresskerala broke the story that there is a chance for a CBI probe in the case.

According to sources, if the court seeks an opinion in the case, the CBI will give a positive reply to take over the case.

Since Chengannur by-election is around the corner, this will become a handy tool for the Opposition Congress and the BJP to hit the government. This will put the government on the defensive.

If the CBI starts an investigation in the case, it will check the voice sample and phone calls of Saseendran, which will eventually trap him in the case, sources added.
